Many families are tempted to take a “Do It Yourself” approach to selecting and enrolling their child in a program. While this is occassionally successful, most parents do not have enough information or experience at their disposal to choose an appropriate program. The painful and costly process of switching programs can often be prevented by enlisting the services of a professional Independent Educational Consultant early on.
Any family considering the services of an educational consultant should realize that while some programs do offer financial aid or are eligible for educational loans, consultation fees and program tuition is an investment — an investment that, when compared to the legal or medical expenses of not taking advantages of such services, more than pays for itself.
My one-time, non refundable fee for a full Educational Consultation covers all verbal and written interaction from the time I begin my initial research for your child, through the point in time when your child has completed the school and/or programs that were identified as in your Educational Consultation. The only additional fees that might be applied, with prior agreement, are my travel expenses to visit a specific client or specialized program for my client.
After completion of the school and/or program defined in the Educational Consultation, some clients wish additional placement services for their child for a transitional placement, college or technical school. In that situation, my hourly fee schedule would be applied, with no charges incurred without prior agreement.
I collect billing information during the psychosocial interview (the first step of the Educational Consultation) and accept Visa, Master Card, American Express or cashier’s check. I encourage you to contact me with your questions about this process so that you will understand how helpful I will be for your child, adolescent or young adult.
My Parent Coaching service is usually appropriate after a student has completed the programs identified during the Educational Consultation process. Typically a minimum commitment of six coaching sessions is required. Call me to discuss your individual situation , especially if you have not previously been my client for an Educational Consultation. If a family is involved in the Parent Coaching process and it becomes evident that the student needs further intervention, then an Educational Consultation would become necessary. In that situation I would discuss your various options of either using my Educational Consultation services, or working with another Ed Consultant. It is unlikely that this would become necessary. Usually Parent Coaching, often in collaboration with local services, is sufficient to help the student transition to a more normalized setting. Please contact me to discuss your needs.
